New York star architect Richard Meier describes his building, which opened in 2004 in the middle of the park landscape of the famous Lichtentaler Allee, as a jewel in the park. The museum's own collection is presented in alternation with top-class special exhibitions of artists such as Marc Chagall, Gerhard Richter, Sigmar Polke, Katharina Grosse, William N. Copley, Andreas Gursky, Anselm Kiefer and James Turrell.
